Io Pan!!!
Inkubus Sukkubus - Cheltenham 2000 |
 |
The road: 200 miles.
The day: close friends and all round this beautiful town.
The support: entertained and well warmed up by the Screaming Dead.
Now, at last, the 'wytches hour' arrived. The lights dimmed, and once
again, the magic began.
|
|
The set opened in fine style with "Smile Of Torment", swiftly
followed by "Catherine". The crowd at the front swelled rapidly,
yet the size of the venue meant there was still room to move - a
good combination.
|
Needless to say, |
 |
the usual 'holy water' |
 |
was kept on-hand! :-) |
|
Soon 'Wytches' was reached, and an enthusiastic crowd threw themselves
into a wild circle dance in front of the stage - the trouble with being
a photographer is you don't get to join in - aww! ;-)
|
 |
Once more, "Samhain" was missing from the playlist (what does a
solitary witch have to do to hear this one - sacrifice the pope?? <gryn>),
but we were treated to Tony's live rendition of "Atrocity", the
bonus 15th track on the special edition of "Wild!".
He sang it with the minimum of accompanyment, and put in quite
a performance - the crowd (and me!) loved it.
Well done Tony! :-)

Of course, the one thing that really stands out about Inkubus Sukkubus
is Candia's wonderful voice - though guys, if you're reading, she
really could do with being just a wee touch louder when you're live,
please? - so here she is, hard at work. Enjoy!

Finaly, it was over, the encore played, the band departed. Time
to find the car, and travel northwards once more, rolling along
deserted motorways, echoes of the gig filling our minds.
Sorry it took so long to get this gig review on-line, a succession
of events conspired to thwart every attempt made in 2000 - this year
will be different! Supernature is out in a few weeks, with a tour
to follow, and we've been promised a gig 'somewhere near your neck
of the woods' - so the Duchess may be dead but her successor will
arise! Roll on the next gig!
