Sometimes, they come back... Yes folks, for the last and final time, on the 11th of March, 2000, Inkubus Sukkubus returned to The Duchess to kick off their Spring tour. Last and Final? - Sadly, this venue, famed accross the North as a showcase for upcoming talent and good old fashioned rock bands, closed forever the week after this gig - but it went out with a hell of a bang this night! The gig was advertised as Inkubus Sukkubus supported by Tony's resurected "Screaming Dead", however on the night we got not two but three bands, for the Cheltenham pagan rockers were joined by "Little Match Girl", a local student band! The gig started late, as the band's van broke down on the way up from Cheltenham, however they arrived by 8pm, and after a quick set-up, without so much as a soundcheck, Little Match Girl launched into an energetic set that got the crowd, who filled the pub to bursting, nicely warmed up - a very professional performance.
Next up were the Screaming Dead, harder and heavier than the first band, and this is where the lack of a sound check showed, as interference bagan to creep into the backline - however a brief pause to adjust amps and instruments, and the show was back on the road - listening to the lyrics, the road to hell!
Personal high point? For me it was Tony's live rendition of the chant from the end of "Song To Pan",
