Spiruitual home of the WGW from the earliest days, and still the most popular pub of the festival, no goth visit to Whitby is complete without at least a few hours spent in the Elsinore. Not only is the company good and drinks reasonably priced, it's also the best possible place to meet new friends and catch that elusive bit of fleeting gossip. It's also usually worth keeping an eye on the road without, as interesting vehicles are often to be seen!
Elsinore People
Pyromancer
and slightly mad friend
The atmosphere in all the Goth venues at Whitby is incredibly friendly, it's like no other music festival I've ever attended. Complete strangers will happily chat to other complete strangers in a totally relaxed atmosphere, and the Goths outnumber everyone else!

Outside the Elsinore
The Elsinore and the Hearse
There are usually at least three hearses belonging to members of the Goth community to be seen around Whitby during the WGW. The one shown here outside the Elsinore is based on a Ford Granada, and as the pictures show, it is maintained in superb condition.
Welcome!
Sheffgoth at the bar.
Princess Linzi and Mervin, at the bar.
Features of note include the barman wearing
an "InsanatoriuM" t-shirt!
Also worthy of note is the rather good Goth shop just down the road from the pub. This view was taken from inside, next time I'll try and get the shopfront! Oops!
